Be Tech-Smart
- Set your watch to your destination's time zone.
- Turn off any screens, since the blue light can disrupt your sleep. This includes phones, laptops and even the in-seat monitor.
Choose Comfort
- Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes that are conducive to relaxing and sleeping on a plane such as the SHEEX® Women's and Men's Sport Hoodies.
- Bring a blanket if you often get cold. The SHEEX® Performance Fleece Travel Blanket is a great choice for staying cozy and comfy on a long trip home.
- Avoid "economy class syndrome" by stretching and exercising your legs hourly. Deep vein thrombosis, which can lead to blood clots, typically originates in the legs because cramped airline seats offer little room to stretch.
Touch Tactfully
- Massage your earlobes for one minute to reduce stress and help you relax.
- Press the pressure point between your eyes and breathe deeply for one minute.
Use Tools
- Invest in a neck pillow and then wear it backwards, with the opening at the back of your neck to prevent nodding forward and jerking awake.
- Block out light by wearing an eye mask or tilting a baseball cap down over your eyes. This gives you an added element of privacy when sleeping on a plane.
- Pack noise-canceling headphones or a set of good earplugs and enjoy a quieter ride without noisy disturbances.
Select a Side
- Pick a seat on the side of the plane that matches your preferred sleeping side. For example, if you sleep on your right side, select a seat on the right side of the plane and try to get the window seat.
- If you're not sure what seat you want, try using a site like SeatGuru that will tell you about the good, bad and reclining seats on every plane.
Keeping these tips for sleeping on a plane in mind will help you catch some z's and stay better-rested.
